Services We Provide
- Caregiver consultant - providing professional assistance for caregivers and care receivers with information, assessment, education, coordination and training.
- Respite Care - giving a break to caregivers of the chronically ill or injured by coordinating visits, companionship and giving the ability for them to attend to other personal or household tasks by coordinating volunteer help.
- Volunteer training - training community members to carry out the support services that are done by volunteers.
- Friendly visits - coordinating volunteers to visit area residents who might be homebound or just alone and in need of contact with the greater community.
- Friendly calls - coordinating volunteers to call those needings extended contact, reassurance, and support.
- Volunteer rides - organizing volunteers to give rides (not available through other services) to appointments, meetings, errands, and social events, both local and long distance for those in need of transportation.
- Caregiver Support Group - hosting a support group for caregivers that meets the second and fourth Tuesdays of every month 12:30 - 2:00 at the Ely Bloomenson Community Hospital.
Hospice Care - in partnership with St. Mary's Duluth Clinic (SMDC) Hospice & Palliative Care East Range Team, arranging for healthcare and other needed services to patients nearing the end of life. The hospice team is comprised of physicians, nurses, social workers, therapists, pastoral representatives, home health aides, volunteers, and family caregivers. Its mission is to provide comfort care to patients and their families in less institutionalized settings and with less strict routines.
Palliative care refers to both a program and a concept of care based on the provision of comfort. It is designed for individuals who are living with or dying from, a progressive life threatening illness.
The program enhances quality of life through pain and symptom control and provides emotional and spiritual support for both patients and families. Compassionate and specialized care is provided with specialized knowledge and skills.
